Position Summary 

As a Junior Referee, you will play a vital role in assisting Referees/Officials with game observation and league rule adherence. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about youth sports and looking to gain experience in officiating while contributing to a positive sporting experience for young players. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Assist with the officiation of youth football games in accordance with league rules and regulations. 

• Ensure a safe playing environment by monitoring player conduct and enforcing rules consistently. 

• Apply and explain game rules to players, coaches, and spectators as needed. 

• Make quick and accurate decisions during games, including fouls and penalties. 

• Arrive at the venue in advance to prepare for games, including setting up equipment and conducting pre-game checks. 

• Collaborate with other officials to ensure smooth game operations. 

• Communicate effectively with players, coaches, and parents to promote understanding of the game and its rules. 

• Provide constructive feedback to players in a respectful and supportive manner. 

• Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance officiating skills and knowledge of the game. 

• Stay updated on rule changes and best practices in officiating. 

• Model and promote good sportsmanship and respect for all participants. 

• Address any unsportsmanlike behavior in a calm and professional manner.

Qualifications: 

• Must be a high school student;  

• Basic knowledge of football rules and gameplay. 

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of people. 

• Availability to work weekends and evenings during the sports season. 

• Ability to make quick decisions under pressure and remain composed during games. 

• A passion for youth sports and a commitment to fostering a positive environment.
